Shoulder Bag Manufacturer: How to Source Factory-Direct Shoulder Bags from China
Published: 2026-08-30 | 10 min read
A shoulder bag is the everyday workhorse of any women's handbag line - it sells in every market, every season, and at every price tier. For importers the challenge is not demand but finding a shoulder bag manufacturer that can hold quality, hit MOQ, and scale with your brand. This guide walks through what a real factory-direct shoulder bag manufacturer offers, how to vet one, the materials and price ranges to expect, and how to place a first order with confidence.
What a Shoulder Bag Manufacturer Actually Does
A shoulder bag manufacturer handles the full production chain: pattern making, material sourcing, cutting, stitching, hardware fitting, QC, and packing. The best factories also run small-batch programs so new brands can start without huge commitments. Beyond making stock styles, a capable supplier supports custom logo and private-label work, which is what turns a commodity bag into your own SKU.
Materials and Construction to Specify
- Vegan leather (PU). The dominant shoulder bag material; compare tiers in vegan leather bags manufacturer.
- Nylon and canvas. Lightweight everyday versions; see nylon bags for the trade-offs.
- Strap. An adjustable shoulder strap with a reinforced join is the top wear point - insist on bar-tack stitching.
- Lining and zipper. A stable lining and a branded puller lift perceived value.
MOQ and Pricing
| Material | FOB Cost (China) | Retail Range |
|---|---|---|

| Nylon / canvas | $3-8 | $22-60 |

Typical MOQ runs 100-300 pieces per style; negotiation tactics are in our MOQ explained guide.
How to Vet a Shoulder Bag Factory
- Ask for the factory license and facility photos. A real bag factory shows its floor, not just a trading office.
- Request a worn, filled sample. A shoulder bag must hold shape with weight inside.
- Check QC process. See our factory QC process for the points that matter.
- Confirm certifications. If you sell to the EU, ask about REACH and BSCI - see SEDEX/BSCI audits.
Customization and Private Label
A shoulder bag is easy to brand: woven labels, embossed hardware, custom colors, and printed linings all work from low MOQ. Compare models in private label vs OEM and OEM vs ODM.
Your First Order
- Shortlist 2-3 manufacturers and request catalogs plus a sample quote.
- Order 3-5 samples and check strap join, shape, and zipper feel.
- Place a mixed-SKU order of 100-200 pieces per style.
- Scale winners and pre-book capacity for next season.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the typical MOQ for a shoulder bag manufacturer?
Most China factories run 100-300 pieces per style for shoulder bags; small-batch and mixed-SKU programs can start lower, especially for PU and nylon versions.
How much does a wholesale shoulder bag cost?
PU vegan-leather shoulder bags run $5-12 FOB, nylon or canvas $3-8, and premium quilted styles $8-16. Retail usually lands between $22 and $120.
Can I private-label shoulder bags with my logo?
Yes. Woven labels, embossed metal hardware, custom colors, and printed linings are all standard from low MOQ; see private label vs OEM for setup.
How do I verify a shoulder bag factory is real?
Ask for the facility license, floor photos, and a worn filled sample; cross-check against our factory verification guide and insist on a documented QC process.
What is the biggest quality risk?
A weak strap-to-body join that fails under daily load. Always pull-test the strap and check bar-tack reinforcement before bulk production.
